Shots Fired Call Results in the Arrest of Two People in Hamilton City

Hamilton City, California - On November 16, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Glenn County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a call of shots fired in the area of Broadway and 1st Street in Hamilton City.  Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol Officers responded to the area.  While enroute, another caller reported a white 4-door sedan was firing a gun from the vehicle while driving on 4th Street.  Deputies stopped a white 4-door Toyota sedan at 4th Street and Broadway.  The vehicle was driven by 40-year-old Gerardo Solorzano of Hamilton City.  The passenger was 23-year-old Moises Cortez of Hamilton City.  When Deputies contacted the occupants of the vehicle a handgun was observed in plain view.  During a search of the vehicle a loaded revolver was located, and an AK style rifle was located in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.  A high-capacity magazine and multiple rounds for the rifle were also located in the vehicle.

Solorzano and Cortez were arrested and booked on multiple firearm related charges.  Solorzano is a convicted felon and was booked on several charges related to a felon being in possession of ammunition and firearms, as well as, driving under the influence of alcohol.  Evidence located at scene showed Solorzano and Cortez were likely the subjects who had been firing a rifle while driving a vehicle in Hamilton City.
