ALLEN PAUL RUEDA - Defendant was previously found in violation of felony convictions of Penal Code section 29800, Felon in Possession of Firearm, 1320(b), Failure to Appear on a Felony, and Vehicle Code section 10851, Automobile Theft and was found in violation of probation for the 1st time. Defendant was sentenced to 3 years 4 months prison. This case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Glenn County Probation Department Officer Moize.
PEOPLE V. GARCIA, PATRICIA- Defendant was previously convicted of misdemeanor violations of Penal Code section 243(e)(1), Battery on Cohabitant, and Health and Safety Code section 11550, Under the Influence of Controlled Substance. Defendant was found in violation of probation for the 5th time and probation was revoked. Defendant was sentenced to 728 days in county jail. The case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Deputy Alves and Glenn County Probation Department Officer Garcia.

PEOPLE V. STANLEY SCOTT GRUNDY – Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 192(a)/193(a), Voluntary Manslaughter with special enhancement, 12022.5(a), Personal Use of a Firearm. Defendant was sentenced to the maximum sentence the law allows to 21 years state prison. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from retired DDA Vacek, CHP - Willows Officer Cushman, and Glenn County Sheriff's Office Detectives Lopeteguy and Barnes, Deputy Thompson, and Sergeant Felton, FBI Agent Wales, DA Chief Investigator Knight, and Victim Witness Advocate White.
This incident occurred on or about March 8, 2019, Defendants Stanley Scott Grundy, Lane Cleo Walker, and John Cornelis Poldervaart were with now deceased Michael Paul Oliveira at Oliveira’s residence to confront victim, Brandon Dawson. A confrontation ensued with a four-on-one fight where Defendants Grundy, Walker, and Poldervaart joined Oliveira to beat victim Dawson into submission, subsequently handcuffing his hands and zip tying his feet. Dawson was driven to Willows by Grundy in Grundy’s van with Walker and Poldervaart as passengers. Oliveira was following in a separate vehicle, Dawson’s BMW. In Willows, Oliveira and Poldervaart left the area together leaving Grundy and Walker with Dawson in Grundy’s van. Grundy and Walker drove Dawson approximately an hour and 20 minutes away from Willows to a location in the foothills of Colusa County where Grundy personally used a firearm to shoot Dawson in the head, causing Dawson’s death. Grundy and Walker burned Dawson’s body and then left the scene. Grundy then returned to the homicide crime scene later in the evening with co-Defendant Clayton Shane Humphrey to bury the body and remove the handcuffs. Grundy and Humphrey purchased a Dremel tool and a shovel from Walmart in Willows to remove the handcuffs, but were unable to do so with these tools. Humphrey used a knife and shovel to remove the handcuffs from Dawson’s body by removing Dawson’s hands from his deceased body. Grundy and Humphrey buried Dawson’s body in a shallow grave in the foothills of Colusa County. Without the cooperation of witnesses who provided critical information to law enforcement, this case could not have been solved and prosecuted. PEOPLE V. FRANCISCO MEDINA: A parole hearing was conducted today from California State Prison, Corcoran for Inmate Francisco Medina. On October 28, 1999, Inmate Medina was 18 years old when he committed the life offense of Second Degree Murder by shooting and killing 19-year-old victim, Christopher Clark in Willows, CA. Inmate Medina was 19 years old when he was sentenced to 15 years to life. Inmate Medina was 31 years old at his first parole hearing in 2013 when parole was previously denied. Since that parole hearing, he obtained a new felony conviction in 2017, Possession of Heroin in Prison, for an additional and consecutive two year sentence from Kings County. The Parole Board denied Inmate Medina's parole for 3 years, when he will be eligible for a hearing for a fifth time. The parole hearing was virtually attended by Assistant District Attorney Ruby Neumann, who opposed the parole on behalf of Glenn County as well as Mr. Christopher Clark's mother and Victim Witness Advocate Pinedo.
PEOPLE V. MCMILLEN, RYAN- Defendant was convicted of felony violations of Penal Code section 666.5/10851(a), Vehicle Theft with a Prior Vehicle Theft, Penal Code section 496(a), Receiving Stolen Property over $950, Penal Code section 594(b)(1), Vandalism with Damage over $400, and Penal Code section 667.5(b), Prior Prison Term. Defendant was sentenced to 6 years and 4 months in state prison. The case was prosecuted by DDA Harbarger with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Detectives Knight and Blair, Deputies Lorenzo and Thompson, and Sgt. Holley and Orland Police Department Officers Branson and Roenspie.
PEOPLE V. AULT, SARA ANN - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 496d(a), Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Defendant was sentenced to 3 years prison and is to serve 1 year local prison and 2 years on Mandatory Supervision. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from CHP Willows Officers Cleek and Nibert.
PEOPLE V. ROTHGERY, CRYSTAL- Defendant was convicted by jury of a felony violation of Penal Code section 451(d), Arson of Property. Defendant was also convicted of misdemeanor violations of Vehicle Code section 14601.1(a), Driving without a License, and 14601.3(a), Habitual Traffic Offender. Defendant was previously on felony probation for a violation of Penal Code section 4573.6(a), Bringing Drugs into the Jail, and 2 separate misdemeanor cases. Defendant was found in violation of probation on 3 separate cases. Defendant was sentenced to 540 days in county jail, 3 years formal probation, and probation was terminated in 3 cases. A hearing has been set for the restitution to the victim for the vehicle that was burned in the arson. The case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Orland Police Department Officer Branson.
PEOPLE V. CAMPBELL, CHAD- Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 666.5, Vehicle Theft with a Prior Conviction for Vehicle Theft. Defendant was sentenced to 4 years in state prison plus a 16 months consecutive prison term from Napa County for a total of 5 years and 4 months in state prison. The case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from California Highway Patrol Officer Owens.
PEOPLE V. ALAN KYLER - Defendant was previously convicted of a violation of Penal Code Section 273.5(a) Domestic Violence causing a Traumatic Condition and was placed on probation. Defendant was subsequently convicted of a violation of Penal Code Section 273.5(f)(1) Domestic Violence causing a traumatic condition with a prior for the same and found in violation of his probation. Defendant was sentenced to 3 years in state prison. This case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Rasmussen.
PEOPLE V. FRANCISCO LLAMAS- Defendant was convicted of felony violations of Penal Code Section 30305, Felon in Possession of Ammunition and admitted to a Prior Strike. He was sentenced to serve 32 months state prison. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from CHP - Willows Officer Cushman and Glenn County Sheriff's Office (retired) Detective Felton.
PEOPLE V. LATSAMY KANGMEUANG - Defendant was previously convicted of felony violations of Vehicle Code section 2800.2(a), Evasion and 496d(a), Receipt of Stolen Vehicle and was found in violation of probation for the 4th time. Defendant was sentenced to 2 years prison and probation was terminated. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Probation Department Officer Moize.
PEOPLE V. BOLES, JARED- Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Vehicle Code section 10851(a), Vehicle Theft. Defendant was sentenced to 3 years in state prison concurrent to a Yolo County 8 year state prison sentence. The case was prosecuted by DDA Harbarger with assistance from Orland Police Department Officers Simpson and Branson.

In 1998, Inmate Gerardo Valenzuela beat Ventura Ruiz to death with a hammer and then attempted to do the same to Efrain Garcia. In 1999, he was convicted of Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree murder for his crimes. He was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
On January 14th 2022 a parole hearing was held for Inmate Valenzuela. Deputy District Attorney Michael Coffey attended the hearing on behalf of the People of Glenn County to oppose his release. After a hearing that lasted more than 3 hours, the parole board determined that Inmate Valenzuela continues to pose an unreasonable risk to the public and denied his parole for 3 years.
PEOPLE V. ISMAEL SOLIZ JR. - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 288(a), Lewd and Lascivious Conduct with a Child Under 14 Years Old and was found in violation of 2 previous felony convictions of Penal Code section 273a(a), Child Endangerment in violation of probation. Defendant was sentenced to 8 years 8 months prison and required to register for 290 Sex Offender Registration for 20 years. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Tuma and Glenn County Probation Officer Moize.
PEOPLE V. JOHNSON, PAUL- Defendant was convicted of felony violations of Penal Code section 666.5, Vehicle Theft with Prior Vehicle Theft, and Vehicle Code section 2800.2, Reckless Evasion, and enhancements for a prior strike conviction and a prior prison term. Defendant was sentenced to 6 years and 4 months in state prison. The case was prosecuted by DDA Harbarger with assistance from California Highway Patrol Officer Stokes and Redding Police Department Officer Stenderup.

PEOPLE V. GARY LEWIS COOPER - On August 21, 1993, Inmate Cooper and his accomplices murdered Filiberto Mendoza. The victim was shot in the head twice, execution style, after being lured to Stony Creek northeast of Orland. Inmate Cooper admitted he received drugs and money in exchange for murdering Filiberto Mendoza. Cooper was convicted of first-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison in 1994.
PEOPLE V. BRIAN MICHAUD - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 288a(c)(1), Oral Copulation of a Child Under 10 Years Old. Defendant was sentenced to 6 years state prison. This case was prosecuted by ADA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office former Detective Knight (now Glenn County DA Chief Investigator) and Deputy Alves.
PEOPLE V. WOODS, STEVEN- Defendant convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 4532(b)(1), Escape, and two enhancements of Penal Code section 667.5(b), Prior Prison Commitments. Defendant was sentenced to 5 years in state prison. The case was prosecuted by DDA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Bouldin.
PEOPLE V. THOMAS, JAMES- Defendant was previously convicted of two misdemeanor violations of Penal Code section 243(e)(1), Battery on Cohabitant. Defendant was found in violation of probation in both cases. Defendant was sentenced to 270 days in county jail and probation was reinstated. The case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Willows Police Department Officer Ayres.
PEOPLE V. PORTER, FREDDIE- Defendant was previously convicted of misdemeanor violations of Penal Code sections 422, Criminal Threats, 273a(a), Child Endangerment, and 243(e)(1), Battery on Mother of Child. Defendant was found in violation of probation for the 1st time. Defendant was sentenced to 110 days jail and probation was reinstated. This case was prosecuted by DDA Neumann with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Thompson and Glenn County Probation Department Officer Garcia.
PEOPLE V. BRISENO, JOSE- Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 22210, Possession of an Illegal Weapon: Leather SAP. Defendant was sentenced to 8 months in state prison concurrent to his previous sentence of 4 year and 8 month in state prison. The case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Corbin.
PEOPLE V. FERNANDO GARCIA
Defendant, 22-year-old from Orland, CA, was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 192(a), Voluntary Manslaughter.
On or about November 24, 2017 the Orland Police Department responded to the sound of shots fired in the area of Date Street and Rennat Way. The victims were invited over to buy guns from the Defendant and Co-Defendant Ricardo Garcia. One victim, Luis Mercado, was shot in the leg and was transported to Enloe Medical Center. The officers learned there was a second victim, Javier Montalvo, found deceased in the garage of the residence at the scene of the crime. Defendant was sentenced to 11 years state prison. The case was prosecuted by DA Stewart with assistance from Orland Police Department Officers Simpson and Mills, Sergeants Johnson and Cessna, and Chief Vlach, CHP Willows, and Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputies Barnes and Zarate, and Lt. Gibbs.
PEOPLE V. WILLIAMS, RUBEN - Defendant was convicted of a felony violation of Penal Code section 459, Second Degree Burglary and admitted to a misdemeanor probation case violation. Defendant was sentenced to 2 years state prison. This case was prosecuted by DDA Coffey with assistance from Glenn County Sheriff's Office Deputy Rasmussen.
PEOPLE V. COX, ANTHONY- Defendant was convicted by a jury of a felony violation of Vehicle Code section 10851(a), Vehicle Theft, misdemeanor violations of Vehicle Code section 20002(a), Hit and Run Property Damage, Penal Code section 148(a)(1), Resist, Obstruct, Delay an Officer, and Health and Safety Code section 11377(a), Possession of Methamphetamine, and a prior strike conviction. Defendant was sentenced to 6 years in state prison.
