Director’s Message
Dear Team,
It has been my honor to serve as the Director of the Glenn County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) and work towards our shared mission, "Building Healthy Futures – One Agency Accessible to All." I will be stepping down from this role and beginning my next career and life chapter in the beautiful state of Kentucky. As we transition, I am pleased to announce that Laura Hawkins will be joining the agency in February 2024 as the new HHSA Director. Laura has over 20 years of experience serving as a child and family therapist and transitioned to directing clinical services and most recently serving as the Director for the Tehama County Department of Social Services and Community Action.
Additionally, Willis “Bill” Wathen, the current Assistant Agency Director, will serve as the interim HHSA Director. Bill's 15-plus years with the agency position him as an excellent leader to guide the agency through this transition.
Our Agency is comprised of dedicated public servants who are deeply committed to meeting the needs of our residents. We are devoted to integrating facilities and services in a manner that prioritizes our customers' needs, tailoring our offerings to support their individual goals.
The HHSA vision, "Health and Opportunity for All," reflects our aspiration for our residents to achieve a brighter and healthier tomorrow with comfort and ease. Our programs encompass a wide range of services, including:
Public Health Services: Such as immunizations, communicable disease control, tobacco education, maternal and child health, and the Women, Infants & Children Nutrition Program (WIC).
Mental Health Services: Providing a full range of mental health services for Glenn County residents, including assessment, case management, crisis intervention, and counseling.
Social Services: Placing a high value on the safety and security of the county's children, elders, and individuals with disabilities. Offering services such as child and adult services, drug and alcohol programs, and employment services.
Community Action: Committed to assisting community members who need help and support. Providing education, assessment, job training, housing assistance, and specialized services for various populations in Colusa, Glenn, and Trinity Counties.
I encourage you to explore the numerous valuable services and programs we offer on our website. Together, we are building a brighter and healthier future for all.
Sincerely,
Christine Zoppi,
Outgoing HHSA Director
