Notice to Vendors: Request for Proposal
With Thanksgiving and its generous tradition of sharing coming up next week, CDFA is urgently reminding Californians in fruit fly quarantine zones that they should *not* be moving homegrown produce off their property — citrus as well as other fruits and vegetables — as movement is forbidden under quarantine requirements and also creates a risk of spread of the invasive flies.
The Olive Fruit Pest Management District Is Sceduled to meet November 9, 2023. Agenda available HERE.
Glenn County Walnut Growers, Hullers/Dryers, & Handlers,
The department would like to request that you complete the survey that is included via the link below. Many reports of post-harvest walnut damage have been relayed to the Glenn County Agriculture Department. The damage is being attributed to the high temperatures that occurred in early September 2022. By collecting information, the full extent of the late summer heat wave impact will be documented.
At this point, the data will be a tool to document the damage but unclear if a disaster declaration can be requested due to the timeline requirements. Regardless, there is overall industry support to know what occurred in your operation in order to understand the full impact that was felt by the California walnut industry.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our office by phone at 530-934-6501, or email to agcommr@countyofglenn.net.
